  Hello there, this isn’t something I like to do at all but I don’t know where else to turn or what else to do. The person I’ve been living with has decided to move out of the apartment I’m in on July 1st and I’m choosing to stay and have an agreement with the landlord to sign a new lease. He will be charging me a security deposit just to stay in the same apartment I’ve been living in for almost 20 years now with no problems (which is messed up but I don’t really want to make it into a thing) so I will have to pay $1300 for rent plus $325 extra every month for 4 months for the security deposit. The $1300 rent I could swing (with difficulty) but adding the extra $325 for the first 4 months is too much for me and I don’t think I will be able to afford it, which is why I’m making this post. If anyone can afford to help me with anything at all I will leave my paypal below. I’m trying to raise $325 to cover the security deposit payment for July. I know times are tough for everyone so I appreciate any and all help. I just don’t know what else to do. I’m trying to be happy about this person leaving the apartment because they’ve been putting me through endless mental and emotional abuse for a long time but the stress of not knowing if I will be able to afford to continue renting this apartment is really taking a toll on me. my move has been so stressful that I must rant.

I mean please read if y’all have some advice

I highlighted all my issues.

To preface this, I moved bc I got a job in my dream city. But rent is so expensive there, I got an apartment in a city near it.

I chose an older apartment complex bc the apartment itself was really nice but the outside is old af. And it’s near a lot of areas

I also chose it bc the leasing agent was Filipino and clicked with me and my folks (bc we’re Filipino duh) & even waived fees for us. He’s important to this story

Mind you i apartment hunted in March because it was spring break and the only time we could fly out.

Most complexes actually turned us away bc I planned to move in July so it’s a liability for them to promise me an apartment and have it be vacant for months (aka not making money)

From March all the way to end of June, I was in contact with this Filipino leasing agent. He made several promises to me and my parents: apartment will be renovated to have wooden floors, it has a microwave installed, it’s near the exit (bc i have a dog).

I called 2 days before I left TX (June 26 AND 27) to ensure that the apartment was ready

Filipino man swore up and down everything was ready to be moved in.

My family and I drove from TX to location (appx. 22 hr drive) with a reactive dog. We traveled for 3 days.

Only to find out Filipino man does not work there any more.

Filipino man did not finish my move in paperwork despite promising me a move in date AND me signing all kinds of paperwork and sending deposits etc.

On top of that, the apartment he swore was mine and was signed to me wasnt even ready to be moved in to.

His replacement had been working there for 3 days and didn’t know shit on what to do. She tried to turn us away but my parents stood up for me while I had a mental breakdown (bc I was arguing with her for 1 hour)

They eventually got the apartment “move-in-able”

Guys. This place is literally falling apart.

I’ve lived here 2 days (moved in July 1st), the shower doesn’t work, the dryer isn’t working, the lightbulb in bedroom is dead, the bathtub/shower is clogged.

To add onto Filipino man’s web of lies, nothing he promised was fulfilled. This place is carpeted, there’s no microwave. It is at the end of a long & dark hallway. I have to pass through 10 apartments plus the lobby to get outside.

On top of that, the aforementioned reactive dog is struggling with the move. Since the family spent 3 days on the road right by each other’s sides sleeping in motels together, etc.

he’s developed really bad separation anxiety to the point that we can’t leave him by himself because he will cry and bark and whine (which he never did before since he was kennel trained). And I’m afraid that they’ll kick us out 😭

Y’all I am so stressed beyond belief. But I’ve signed a lease now and I’ve paid HELLA MONEY to be here now.

I am stuck and depressed all over again.

we just toured a place that was asking $1750/month (not terrible considering it was a small house and not an apartment, in a really good location) but also a 1750 security deposit.... which is steep for a deposit, it's first months rent, but again also not uncommon.

they were nervous about our wages, and apparently good credit history and a year of renting at an established apartment, PLUS the income & background check wasnt enough. they asked 2k for security deposit and theyll take it off the market as soon as we sign. i texted her this morning to let her know we cant just throw down 2k for a place that isnt even vacant yet, i have a weird feeling about it, but thanked her for considering us

.... she just called and said $500 for a deposit would be fine if we sign this week, just pay the remaining + first months rent when we move in on the 1st.

sometimes, it is worth it to communicate and be polite even if you think youre getting played. (we're considering this new offer)

21 Day Europe Adventure September 2023

On 9/1 we took a 7pm Aer lingus direct flight from JFK to fly directly to Dublin Ireland. With a 8 yo I thought I would give a night time flight to try sleeping on the plane so we could gain an extra day of site seeing.

The plan was to get to the airport early so we didn’t have to rush, but we got there too early and had to wait an hour before checking in our bags in and able to go thru security. Once we go thru security we where able to get dinner inside.

Insider tip: bring water bottles to grab filter water from the airport at no extra charge!

We grab burgers because we didn’t get dinner until 9pm. The plan was to go to sleep on the plane but due to so many babies crying we were unable to sleep. Def was not excepting this! Lesson learned! My son manage to sleep for 3 hours, he was so happy playing with the plane’s features, it kept him very entertained with games and movies. However I did download lots of shows and movies on Disney plus and Netflix’s on his iPad as a backup. He did not even asked for his iPad which was a plus during the flight!

ARRIVAL

When arrived the next morning ( 8 hours ) it was 8am in Ireland but 4am in est time zone. We went directly to the car rentals in the airport assuming that our rental would be there. To my surprise it wasn’t. I was able to get wifi and get into my emails where I read the instructions from the rental. It instructed us to go to terminal 1 shuttle area and to call when we arrived so that a shuttle would pick us up. Since I could only use my data with my esim I purchase online via Airalo I could not make calls. I tried using my google voice but since it was not a US number I could not call the number. I had to ask one of the airport works to call for us, which they did and we were able to let them know we where waiting.

Once our shuttle came were where taken 5 mins away to a rental location where we waited to pay the balance our our rental. I was sure that our rental came with insurance but it didn’t. We were given a choice to leave a credit card with a 1,000 euros block or to add insurance for 500 euros. Since this was my first time driving on the left side we opt for the 500 euro option so we would be covered. Luckily we did not have any accidents just a few scares along the way 😀.

Here’s what the rental cost 10 days 9/2-9/11

$787 deposit( $164.47 ) plus insurance $651 total $1438

As we where waiting we found out that the apple play was not working properly so we had to wait for a different car. After 3 hours they where able to get us a car with a working gps, which I’m not a fan off but it would be good for a backup Incase my gps lost connection. To my surprise the usb iPhone connectors worked and the car was able to connect to apple play but found that it drained my esim data to quickly.

Trick: One trick I learned was to place my phone on airplane mode once I got the directions so that the data from the esim would not drain so quickly. I was able to do 10 days off 3gb.

Trip Start:

1st Hotel, Day 1 Glashaus Hotel right outside of Dublinin Tallaght. The hotel was extremely comfortable, clean and had access to transit. The hotel is very well located near a mall and an Aldi to purchase gallon of waters. Luas train is a 1 minute walk away and makes getting to Central Dublin quick and inexpensive. Since we had a rent a car we did not take the transit but we could see it right outside of our hotel room. The hotel did provided onsite parking.

We had arrived an hour early then checkin so we left our luggage there and went into the restaurant to have a late lunch. The food was delicious!

Although breakfast was not included we where able to purchase it after 9am at the restaurant right in the hotel. We checked out early, the first day was going to be a long drive. We checked out at 7am and headed to Northern Ireland.

Day 2 Here where our stops:

Stop 4: Causeway hotel

If you'd like to explore the Giant’s Causeway, you can’t stay any closer than the Causeway Hotel. We checked into our hotel at 8pm booked dinner reservations for 8:45pm. The brought our bags to our room and we freshened up and went down to dinner then went to bed directly after dinner so that we could wake up at 7am to do an early morning hike to the causeways.

Tip: The earlier you go the better opportunity you get for photo ops. Less crowds!

The Giant's Causeway lies at the foot of the basalt cliffs along the sea coast on the edge of the Antrim plateau in Northern Ireland. It is made up of some 40,000 massive black basalt columns sticking out of the sea. The dramatic sight has inspired legends of giants striding over the sea to Scotland. Geological studies of these formations over the last 300 years have greatly contributed to the development of the earth sciences.

update 6/21/24:

have yet to check in with insurance. next update will be when i hear back, as well as my luck with financial aid and other things relevant to my income + upcoming job.

need to call my old bank today because i genuinely think my branch screwed me over. 🫠

i've been misled multiple times about my account being charged off. i was told it could be reopened with a significant enough deposit (which, again, i only got from breaking NC with my rapist). then, i was told it was permanently closed, but i still had overdraft debt to pay off. after a good writing/fic friend sent money that paid off the PayPal debt, i sent the remaining $94 to my account to get further out of the hole; i was told it went through, and it brought my debt from around $421 to around $330. i couldn't do a direct deposit due to being out of state, let alone out of one where any related branch is located, so i sent back some of the deposit i received to the sender (family friend, same one whose texts are featured in the imgur album) on Venmo so he could deposit it. he called me the 18th and said the bank wouldn't accept it, implying the overcharge amount due was more than $330. i called the bank directly (not the branch), and the woman who did research confirmed the amount remaining in my charged off checking account is $0.00, meaning the bank itself paid it off, but my old branch didn't tell me.

so, now i've both lost money from that transaction i can't immediately recoup, and my branch possibly stole $94 under the guise of paying off my non-existent debt.

while i'm trying to get things sorted out on my end (opening a new checking account at a different bank, activating a debit card that came in the mail, applying for a credit card with my currently nonexistent score to start building credit), my partner has struggled financially to the point of needing my help.

i've already sent them $872 total within less than a week to help cover food (groceries, helping with dinner night for their professional dance/cover group, buying for our chronically depressed/fatigued roommate), my combined share of electricity and Spectrum bills, and them going overdraft (negative balance, $35 fee, more than my usual share of rent/utilities due to automatic payments being unable to draw at the time).

so that, plus $750+ dollars i lost because of my bank, adds up to over half of the initial deposit i got from breaking NC. all within a week.

since posting this, we've only received $16 via CA from a dear system friend this morning. they also plan to send more once they're paid at their new job, but that won't be until July 1st.

i'm trying my best not to panic. i know things will get better. things have already improved. i promise to update everyone when things are substantially resolved on our end.

sharing this and sending support really has helped. for once, i actually feel seen and heard as opposed to before (insulted, mocked, ignored, downvoted, made to delete/close GFMs three times last year because my safety was constantly threatened). i promise that hasn't changed.

but sending literally anything, even just $5 or $10, can help even more. if there's any apprehension or doubt about whether it really does make a difference: the $16 dollars our friend sent for us to eat was just enough to get a pint of ice cream for my partner and i to share as comfort food. it didn't fix everything, and it was all i could buy with our CA account balance; but being able to have something fun to enjoy because someone cared about making sure we've eaten gave us peace of mind for at least one more day.

i've held off on publicly asking for help beforehand, as i know there are many people in more dire circumstances right now. but i'm at a point where it's absolutely necessary.

i moved out of state to live with my partner system (we both have DID) in March of this year. we already planned to live together, but circumstances forced me to escape and go NC (no contact) with my remaining family for my safety.

i lived in my childhood home for my whole life until this year. my parents and extended family have always been abusive, but things escalated after my mom passed from Stage 4 lung cancer. my father started deteriorating after her diagnosis in 2018, and since her death in 2022, our relationship is no longer salvageable.

his alcoholism worsened significantly, resulting in multiple instances of him driving home drunk, collapsing, and almost being charged with a DUI. he hasn't hit me since i was 13, but he's acted domestically violent by slamming and hitting things whenever i've angered him. he threatened me with homelessness twice for being suicidal (once after a four day hospitalization, once after an attempted overdose), knowing full well i had no resources at the time and would've ended up on the streets. i attempted to escape last year, but my paternal aunt purposefully sabotaged it, forcing me to stay in an unsafe situation and suffer quietly. my mother's family abandoned me in 2020, and they no longer accept me (specifically for being queer/trans, disabled, and a vocal leftist), so they wouldn't help even if i wanted to resume contact.

it took over a year to move out due to my father controlling every aspect of my life with the justification of me being disabled. i tried to get his blessing for me to move in with my partner; but he refused to let me leave him, and he made it clear his disapproval of my relationship was because he didn't want me to have any autonomy outside of him.

the breaking point came after three days of nonstop verbal and emotional/mental abuse from him over an argument he started; everything culminated in him raping me while i was incapacitated. both my best friend of three years and their partner offered for me to crash at their apartment while my partner planned to get me. they also escorted me to a sexual assault center in my state to get a rape kit done.

i burned nearly every bridge in the process, as the people who could help me sided with him. but i didn't anticipate my friends to abandon me, too. they spent my last three days with them coercing me into changing my escape plan and dismissing my visible distress at how doing so would jeopardize my safety. less than 12 hours before we left, my best friend abandoned me via text, saying they'd refuse to help me if i didn't get police involved. anything i said in response resulted in gaslighting from them, mainly using therapy speak of "boundaries" and "triggers" to justify their actions. i cut contact with them after my partner told me they planned to drop me from the start (they told my partner this in a phone call while i was out) and discovering a cruel vague post they made after i last texted them. the last time i ever reached out was to send them money to get through their own situation.

since then, my partner and i have struggled financially. they're currently one write-up away from being fired, and their supervisor has always been volatile, so confronting him or going to anyone else at their job will do nothing. they've gotten help from their grandparents, but they're similarly abusive and unaccepting of them for the same reasons, so it hurts them to beg them even if they're unable to go NC right now.

i'm unable to reapply for disability, and previously lucrative sources of passive income have currently dried up. i'm waiting for orientation to be scheduled so i can start my new job, but we've financially suffered in the meantime. my account was charged off, and i only just now paid off a month's worth of PayPal debt; most of the debt came from paying off medical bills after i was injured in late April (currently contemplating pursuing legal compensation but nothing's set in stone).

i had to break NC twice for my father to help, but it's been triggering both times. i had to block his number before due to him harassing me via call/text, and he made me talk to police twice by falsely reporting me missing.

i cannot risk breaking NC again if my future job falls through or my partner loses theirs. we both had to skip meals several times within the past month to keep from buying food, so it's gotten scary already.
